Jatiwero, Vhovho, Ozemwa, and Netsai chose to leave Naiza Boom after nine years of collaboration, drawing attention to low remuneration and grievances related to the conduct of the group’s director, Michael Machiwona.
The primary concern raised by these departing members was the issue of low salaries. Ozemwa, one of the outspoken members, disclosed in an interview with Chibanda Media that they believed they were being compensated inadequately for their contributions. He described their remuneration as “peanuts,” stating that while Naiza Boom initially offered fair salaries, these payments gradually dwindled to meagre amounts.
According to Ozemwa, the four departing members collectively decided to bring this issue to public attention, expressing their dissatisfaction with the situation.
In addition to the financial disputes, the departing members aired allegations of unprofessional behaviour within Naiza Boom. They claimed that Naiza Boom had adopted divisive tactics that sowed conflicts and a lack of respect among group members.
They further stated that the group’s director, Michael Machiwona, did not foster a respectful working environment. This discord led to strained relationships among the group members, causing discontent and ultimately contributing to their decision to part ways7.
Furthermore, the departing members revealed that they had not signed any formal contracts specifying their monthly earnings, leading to uncertainty in their financial stability.
