This is the biography of Walter Musona, a Zimbabwean professional footballer. He plays as a forward for Simba Bhora FC and the Zimbabwe national football team. Known for his versatility and skill, Musona has made significant contributions to his teams both domestically and internationally.

 

Early Life and Education

Walter Tatenda Musona was born on 17 December 1995 in Chegutu. He grew up in Norton. He developed an interest in football at a young age, influenced by his family’s passion for the sport. His brother, Knowledge Musona, is also a professional footballer. Walter attended Chiedza Primary School in Norton and Lord Malvern High School in Harare, where he balanced his education with his growing commitment to football.

Musona’s club career began when he signed his first professional contract in 2007 after rising through the ranks at Aces Youth Soccer Academy (AYSA), a foundation that shaped his professional approach to football. His journey saw him play in Division 2 and Division 1 before being loaned to Motor Action in 2013.

His Premiership debut came that same year against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium. In 2014, Musona’s handlers secured a one-year loan deal for him at FC Platinum (FCP), where he developed into a versatile and speedy player. His performances caught the attention of international scouts, leading to a brief stint with FK Senica in Slovakia. However, he did not make any appearances for the club.

In 2017, Walter joined Polokwane City in South Africa. During his time with Polokwane City, he made 60 appearances and scored 11 goals. His consistent performances earned him a move to Sekhukhune United in 2021, where he played for one season before returning to Zimbabwe to join F.C. Platinum again.

Known for his skilful dribbling and ability to take set pieces, he was an asset both as a midfielder and striker. After many years at FC Platinum, where he gained a reputation as a key player, Musona left the club and joined Simba Bhora FC in July 2023.

Musona has represented Zimbabwe at various youth levels, including the U17, U20, and U23 teams. He made his senior debut for the Zimbabwe national team in 2014. Since then, he has earned several caps and scored goals for his country. His international experience has been invaluable, providing leadership and skill on the field.
