This is the biography of Kennedy Ndebele a Zimbabwean football administrator who was elected Vice President of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in January 2025. He has held various leadership roles in football administration, including CEO of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and executive at Highlanders Football Club.

Personal Life

Loss of His Son

In September 2022, Ndebele’s son, Ndabenhle, passed away under unclear circumstances. The 20-year-old was reported missing after last being seen along Banbury Road in Montrose Suburb. The family issued an appeal for information regarding his whereabouts before receiving news that he had been found deceased near Plumtree Town. Details surrounding his passing remained unclear, with the family awaiting post-mortem results to determine the cause of death.

Education

Ndebele holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Politics and Administration from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). He also obtained a Diploma in Management of Olympic Sport Organisations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a FIFA Futuro III Regional Instructor Administration and Management Certificate.

Career as a Football Administrator

Resignation from Premier Soccer League

Ndebele resigned as CEO of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), effective 24 January 2025, to contest in the ZIFA vice-presidential elections.

Election as ZIFA Vice President

In the ZIFA elections held on 25 January 2025, Ndebele won the vice-presidential seat with 46 votes. He defeated several candidates, including Omega Sibanda (12 votes), Peter Dube (4), Francis Zimunya (3), James Takavada (2), and Makwinji Soma-Phiri (0).

Previous Roles in Football

Ndebele has held several key administrative positions in Zimbabwean football, including:

  • Highlanders Football Club – Served as Secretary (2003) and later Chairman (2004).
  • 2009 COSAFA Tournament – Acted as Coordinator.
  • African Union Sports Council Region 5 Games – Served as Marketing Director when Zimbabwe hosted the event.
