This is the biography of Loveness Wadzanayi Mukura a Zimbabwean football administrator and former professional footballer. She was elected Vice President of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in January 2025, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Football Career
Mukura was a key player for Herentals Queens, serving as captain during their dominant run in the Women’s Soccer League, winning titles in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
She played a crucial role in leading Herentals Queens—nicknamed the “Simba Dedza Girls”—to the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers in Malawi in August 2024.

Career as a Football Administrator
Election as ZIFA Vice President
Mukura made history as the first woman to be elected ZIFA Vice President following a constitutional amendment in October 2024 that reserved a mandatory slot for a female vice president.
In the ZIFA elections held on 25 January 2025, she won by a landslide, securing 65% of the vote (43 out of 77 votes). She defeated veteran football administrators Mavis Gumbo, who received 26 votes, and Winnet Murota.
Following her election to ZIFA’s executive committee, Mukura announced her retirement from professional football to focus on her administrative duties.
Role at Herentals Queens
Before joining ZIFA, Mukura served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Herentals Queens, where she was instrumental in expanding the club by establishing two additional First Division teams in Harare and Kwekwe.
Philanthropy
Mukura has been involved in community initiatives, including sponsoring an amputee football team, which was set to compete in the 2025 Amputee League.
