Career

Chairmanship of ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League

Kweza assumed the chairmanship of the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League in 2019, following the passing of Willard Manyengavana.

Co-option into the ZIFA Executive Committee

In 2022, Kweza was co-opted into the ZIFA Executive Committee after the recalling of former president Felton Kamambo and executive members Bryton Malandule and Philemon Machana. Alongside Kweza, other notable administrators such as Harare City Football Club chairman Alois Masepe and former Highlanders chairman Kenneth Mhlophe were also added to the committee.

There were calls for Kweza to step down as NRSL chairman after his co-option, citing potential conflicts of interest. However, ZIFA legal advisor Chenaimoyo Gumiro clarified on July 6, 2022, that the ZIFA constitution allows the executive committee to co-opt members based on their skills and potential contributions to the administration of the sport.

Court Challenge

Kweza’s chairmanship of the NRSL faced legal scrutiny when football enthusiast Maxwell Mabuto filed a court case challenging his appointment. Mabuto alleged that Kweza was imposed as NRSL chairman after Manyengavana’s death in August 2019 and argued that ZIFA, as the governing body, should not have accepted Kweza’s leadership.
