GoFundMe Campaign for Cosmetic Surgery
On Monday, August 30, 2021, Michelle Chiyangwa initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise £7,300 for a weight management operation. However, after 15 hours, she had only managed to gather £10.
Michelle explained that she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in 2012, which caused her to experience weight gain and cystic acne. Despite her attempts to address the weight gain through diet, exercise, and reduced alcohol consumption, she struggled to lose weight. Her fundraising appeal stated:
“Whenever I embark on a weight loss journey, it becomes challenging for me to exercise due to the strain on my back caused by my F Cup breasts. Additionally, I have been unable to get rid of my stomach, which I believe is associated with PCOS.”
Michelle is seeking financial assistance for breast reduction surgery and liposuction, a surgical procedure that removes fat from specific areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, or neck.
“I suffer from back pain, and my self-confidence has plummeted,” expressed Michelle in her plea. “I avoid social interactions due to the loss of confidence stemming from my body. Over time, I feel like I’m developing body dysmorphia. I find myself relying on old videos, pictures, or excessive filters to hide the real me.”
Michelle admitted to feeling depressed and engaging in self-body shaming, leading her to avoid meeting people altogether. She sincerely appreciates any assistance that can be provided.
When questioned about his daughter’s GoFundMe campaign, Phillip Chiyangwa, Michelle’s father, informed ZimLive that she was assisting someone in need.
