This is the biography of Ralph Tendai Mupita a Zimbabwean-born engineer, businessman, and corporate executive. He became the Group President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Group on September 1, 2020, following an announcement on August 19, 2020. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of MTN Group from April 2017 to August 2020.

Qualifications
He attended Mutare Junior School before moving on to Churchill School and Plumtree School for his middle and high school education. He later attended the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Mupita furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same university. He also completed a Graduate Management Program at Harvard University.
Career
Mupita began his career as a civil engineer at Haw & Inglis Civil Engineering in Cape Town, where he worked from December 1996 to December 1999. In January 2001, he joined Old Mutual South Africa, holding various positions, including Director of Strategy and Director of Retail for High Net-worth & Affluent clients. In February 2012, he was appointed CEO of Emerging Markets for Old Mutual Plc., based in Johannesburg, a role he held until January 2017.
In April 2017, Mupita joined MTN Group Limited as CFO, a position he held until August 2020. He succeeded Rob Shuter as CEO on September 1, 2020.
Wife & Children
Ralph Mupita is married to Makole Mupita, a chartered accountant and the owner and principal of Mahlako A Phahla Investments (Pty) Limited, which she established in 2009. The couple has four children.
