Ranga Chivaviro Biography | Background and Age, Club Career, International Career

This is the biography of Ranga Chivaviro, a South African football player who plays as a forward for the South African Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs.

Background and Age

Ranga Chivaviro was born on November 21, 1992, in Limpopo, South Africa to a South African mother and a Zimbabwean father.

Club Career

Chivaviro began his professional career with Witbank Spurs, Cape Town All Stars, and Ubuntu Cape Town. In the summer of 2018, he signed for South African Premier Division side Baroka.

After spending part of the 2019–20 season on loan at TS Sporting, Chivaviro was released by Baroka at the end of the season. In March 2021, he signed for Kosovar club KF Trepça ’89, but left the club at the end of the season.

In September 2021, Chivaviro returned to South Africa and signed with Venda FA, before leaving the club in June 2022.

In August 2022, Chivaviro joined Marumo Gallants and was part of the team that progressed to the 2022–23 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals. In the quarter-final against Pyramids, Chivaviro scored the opening goal for Gallants in the first leg, which ended 1-1. In the return leg, Gallants won 1-0 to secure their semi-final place.

Gallants faced 2021–22 Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans in the semi-finals. In the first leg in Tanzania, Young Africans took a 2-0 lead. Ahead of the return leg, Chivaviro and Young Africans’ Fiston Kalala Mayele were joint top goalscorers in the 2022–23 CAF Confederation Cup with five goals each.

On June 30, 2023, it was announced that Chivaviro had signed for Kaizer Chiefs.

International Career

Ranga Chivaviro was named in their preliminary squad for the 2023 COSAFA Cup.

But after stand-in coach Morena Ramoreboli snubbed him in his final selection for the tournament, Chivaviro said he was available to play for Zimbabwe again.
