Machope had trials with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) club Flame Lily. Although he was initially shortlisted as one of the 25 players under consideration, his trial was short-lived, and he was dropped within hours.
Following this setback, Machope returned to Mutorashanga. In 2022, when Cranborne Bullets were using Vengere Stadium, they sought to recruit local talent to gain community support in Rusape. Although Machope trained with the team, he did not receive much attention from the coaches and eventually decided to step away from pursuing football professionally, returning to work for financial stability.
Machope spent much of his early career playing in social leagues and lower-division leagues. To support himself, he worked as a clerk at Morisson Farm in Rusape, where he played for the social team. He was later offered a job at Midway, where he worked in the abattoir while continuing to play for their team in the Eastern Region Soccer League Division One, where he scored prolifically.
Machope’s performances for Midway caught the attention of several teams, including Triangle FC. However, it was Simba Bhora who ultimately signed him. Machope has since settled well at Simba Bhora, helping the Shamva-based side avoid relegation in their maiden campaign in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League in 2023, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.
