Willard Katsande is a former professional football player from Zimbabwe. He played for the Zimbabwe national team, Kaizer Chiefs, and Ajax Capetown City. He also played for DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United F.C before retiring from the club only to be a brand ambassador in 2022.
Katsande was born in Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province in 1986.
Katsande’s nickname is Salt and Vinegar. This nickname comes from the flavour of fried potato chips called Salt and Vinegar. He also calls himself Kitoko Makasi Boss Ya Mboka.
Katsande’s Career Stats
Willard Katsande started playing soccer in lower division teams in Zimbabwe. These teams included Frontier Steel (2002–2005), Feruka (2006–2007) and Highway (2007–2009). He was then spotted by a team in Harare called Gunners F.C. and was recruited to play for them in 2009–10.
Willard Katsande joined Kaizer Chiefs on August 15, 2011, after being spotted by Kaizer Chiefs’ manager Bobby Motaung. Bobby saw him playing in a game between Zimbabwe and Zambia .
Willard Katsande made his Kaizer Chiefs debut a month after joining the club. He first appeared for Amakhosi during a derby MTN final against rivals Orlando Pirates, and Katsande replaced Tshabalala in the 81st minute.
Katsande scored his first goal for Kaizer Chiefs on March 15, 2014, in a scintillating Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates. He scored his first goal through a header in the 61st minute, powering his team to a 1-0 win on the day.
Katsande received five yellow cards in his first 12 matches with Amakhosi. He also received 10 yellow cards and 1 red card in 2013.

Kaizer Chiefs star Willard Katsande is married to Bonga Miya Katsande. The two love birds were pictured during a lavish and Xhosa-themed cultural wedding ceremony in 2021.
Before Bonga, Katsande was married to Memory Dowerowe. The two secretly divorced in 2016 despite having three kids together.
