This is the biography of William Sachiti, a Zimbabwean-born British entrepreneur and inventor who has made significant strides in the field of autonomous technology.

 

Early Life and Education

William Sachiti was born in May 1984 in Harare, Zimbabwe. At the age of 16, Sachiti moved to the United Kingdom, a significant transition that opened up new opportunities for him to explore his entrepreneurial ambitions.

In the UK, Sachiti continued with his education. In 2012, he enrolled at the London School of Economics and Political Science to study Applied Valuation and Business analysis. While studying at the London School of Economics, he founded his first company, Clever Bins, a manufacturer of solar-powered digital advertising bins.

In 2015, he went to the Aberystwyth University in Wales. He enrolled in a program focused on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

During his time at Aberystwyth, Sachiti developed a prototype robot librarian. His innovative approach earned him an entrepreneurship prize for a theoretical solution to the last-mile delivery problem, highlighting his potential as a future leader in technology.

William Sachiti Entrepreneurial and Inventing Career

Sachiti’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 19 when he founded 123-registration, a domain registration business. The venture was successful and was acquired a year later. He then founded Clever Bins, a company that produced solar-powered digital advertising bins. Although his pitch on BBC’s Dragons’ Den was unsuccessful, Clever Bins secured partnerships with local councils in Manchester and London.

In 2013, Sachiti founded mycityvenue, a digital concierge service that gained popularity, amassing 1.6 million users. The success of mycityvenue led to its acquisition by Secret Escape.

His most notable venture, however, came with the founding of the Academy of Robotics in 2017. The company developed Kar-go, an autonomous delivery vehicle designed to revolutionize last-mile delivery. Kar-go was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019 and has since been involved in various trials, including at RAF Brize Norton. Sachiti’s work with the Academy of Robotics has positioned him as a leading figure in the field of autonomous technology.

Sachiti is passionate about education and innovation. He has founded initiatives to promote STEM education in Africa and has advocated for the development of a thriving technology ecosystem in Zimbabwe. His professional life is well-documented, but his personal life is kept relatively private.
