Rumbidzai Takawira is a television personality, TV producer, and broadcast journalist. She has also earned accolades as the former main news anchor for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation.
Beyond her achievements in media, Rumbidzai is a skilled karateka, and she proudly represented Zimbabwe at the prestigious World Karate Championships held in Shizuoka, Japan.

Rumbidzai Takawira was born on January 11, 1990, in Harare.
Education
Growing up in Harare, she received her early education at Eaglesvale Primary and Secondary School. Showing a passion for journalism, she pursued her dreams by studying journalism at CCOSA Journalism School.
Career
Rumbidzai Takawira’s career in the media industry took off in 2010 when she started by doing announcements during the COTTCO Rugby Festival, which is now known as the Dairibord Zimbabwe Rugby Festival.
In August 2012, Rumbidzai decided to audition for a role in radio news at ZBC TV. Her audition proved to be successful, and she was offered the opportunity to work in radio news.
As a result, she became a part of ZBC’s Power FM Zimbabwe and SpotFM (now Classic 263), where she began her journey in radio broadcasting.
From October 2012 until 2017, Rumbidzai served as a Sub-Editor for news and current affairs at both PowerFM and Classic 263.
In the following years, from 2017 to 2018, Rumbidzai took on additional responsibilities as a Producer and Presenter for the Actualities bulletins.
In July 2013, Rumbidzai Takawira took on the role of anchoring the early morning news bulletin on ZBC TV, titled “Good Morning Zimbabwe.”
From May 2014 until February 2020, Rumbidzai’s career reached new heights as she became the leading anchor for the prime time News Hour bulletin at 8 pm, which is now known as the Main News.
Her talent and charisma caught the attention of viewers on social media, and they affectionately bestowed upon her the nickname “News Bae” as a testament to her popularity and appeal.
Recognizing her capabilities and expertise, in July 2019, Rumbidzai was appointed as the acting Diplomatic Correspondent for ZBC TV. In this role, she covered important diplomatic events and news, bringing insightful reporting to the nation until May 2020.
Rumbidzai Takawira is a remarkable entrepreneur who has also taken on the role of a brand ambassador. In 2018, she was honored with the prestigious appointment as the Anti-Poaching brand ambassador for two distinguished organizations, WildAid and The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority.
Alongside esteemed personalities like Danai Gurira, Jah Prayzah, and Selmor Mtukudzi, Rumbidzai contributed her influence and passion to support the noble cause of wildlife preservation and protection against poaching.
In June 2020, Rumbidzai Takawira added another significant milestone to her illustrious career when she was appointed as the Head of Communications, Corporate Affairs, and Spokesperson for the Judicial Service Commission of Zimbabwe.
Sport
Rumbidzai Takawira is a highly skilled Karateka. Demonstrating her dedication and proficiency in martial art, she holds an impressive 2nd Kyu brown belt.
Her talents as a Karateka earned her a place on the Zimbabwe national team that competed at the prestigious World Karate Championships in Shizuoka, Japan, in 2016.
Continuing her impressive journey in Karate, she proudly represented Zimbabwe at the Second All Africa SO-Kyokushin Full Contact Karate Regional Tournament, which took place in Chitungwiza in 2017.
