Known by her nicknames NdiCandice or Malkia, the Lion Queen, Candice Mwakalyelye is a versatile media professional based in Zimbabwe. She is a TV and radio broadcaster, media practitioner, and Master of Ceremonies (MC). In addition to her broadcasting career, she lends her voice to voice-over projects and represents brands such as DeeKawZee Accessories and Make-up By Gamu as their ambassador.

Candice Mwakalyelye was born on 8 August 1986.

Early Life

While details about Mwakalyelye’s birthplace and parents remain largely undisclosed, some sources suggest that she has mixed Tanzanian and Zimbabwean heritage.

Career

Candice Mwakalyelye’s career journey began in March 2008 when she served as a breakfast show presenter for East Africa Television Limited in Tanzania, a role she held until August 2008.

From July 2006 to September 2008, she was the English News Editor for the same broadcaster.

In November 2008, she transitioned to the Vodacom Foundation, working as an officer until October 2009. During her tenure at Vodacom, she was the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the Zanzibar International Film Festival in June 2009 and for the Music Crossroads Local competition in Dar es Salaam in July 2009.

She then moved to Y & R Group Ltd- Silver Bullet in October 2009, where she worked as a public relations account manager until December 2012.

In August 2012, she joined ZiFM Stereo, a position she held until October 2016 when she decided to explore other career opportunities.
