This is the biography of Alois Bunjira, a former Zimbabwean footballer who played as a midfielder from 1994 to 2009.

Early Life and Background

Alois Bunjira was born on March 29, 1975, in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. Bunjira’s passion for the game was evident from a young age. His early life in Chitungwiza laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in football.

Bunjira began his football journey with local clubs, showcasing his talent as a midfielder. His professional career kicked off in 1994 with Darryn Textiles, followed by a stint at Blackpool. His performances caught the eye of bigger clubs, and soon, he was playing for CAPS United, one of the most successful teams in Zimbabwe.

Bunjira’s prowess on the field did not go unnoticed, and he earned his place in the Zimbabwe national team in 1994. Over the next eight years, he would go on to represent his country 17 times, scoring three goals. His international career highlighted his ability to perform on the biggest stages.

In 1999, Bunjira’s career took him to South Africa, where he joined QwaQwa Stars. However, it was with Bidvest Wits that he found significant success, scoring 18 goals in 84 appearances. His time at Mamelodi Sundowns and a return to Bidvest Wits further cemented his reputation as a skilled midfielder. Despite facing challenges, including injuries, Bunjira’s resilience saw him through, and he continued to play at a high level until his retirement.

After hanging up his boots in 2009, Bunjira left behind a legacy of determination and skill. His career totals include more than 176 club appearances and over 34 goals. Post-retirement, Bunjira has stayed connected to the sport, contributing his knowledge and experience to the next generation of footballers. He is currently on a local Zimbabwean radio station, ZiFM, as a football contributor.

Alois Bunjira Personal Life

While much of Bunjira’s life has been in the public eye due to his football career, he has managed to keep his personal life private. However, his son, Junior Bunjira, currently plays for Caps United.
