Brighton Ncube Biography | Club Career | Highlanders FC | Style of Play

This is the biography of Brighton Ncube, a Zimbabwean professional footballer who plays as a striker for Highlanders Football Club in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Club Career

Early Career

Ncube developed his football skills within the Highlanders Football Club youth system before moving to Bantu Rovers. He left the Highlanders Under-18 side to join Bantu Rovers, where he was given an opportunity to play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

In 2018, at the age of 17, Ncube made his PSL debut for Bantu Rovers. He played a full match in a goalless draw against Bulawayo City and made several other appearances, scoring once during the season. Bantu Rovers struggled that year, winning only four games and finishing at the bottom of the table with 16 points, leading to their relegation.

Clubs Played For and Career Progression

Following Bantu Rovers’ relegation, Ncube joined Talen Vision, though he had limited playing opportunities. Midway through the season, Bulawayo City expressed interest in signing him, and he left Talen Vision to train with them. However, administrative issues with his clearance prevented him from officially joining the club.

During this period, he was also called up to the Zimbabwe Under-20 national team camp but did not make the final squad for a match against Zambia.

At the start of 2019, Ncube trained with Bulawayo Chiefs, who signed and later loaned him to Filabusi United. However, the loan was cut short due to financial constraints, leading him to finish the season with Bantu Leopards, a Division Two side. He later moved to Casmyn FC, competing in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One League.

Highlanders FC

In February 2024, Ncube signed a three-year contract with Highlanders Football Club, joining from Chicken Inn FC.

On March 9, 2025, he scored a hat trick in Highlanders’ 4-0 victory over Kwekwe United, marking the team’s first home match of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. His performance made him the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2025 season and his first in Highlanders’ colours.

Style of Play

Ncube is known for his versatility as a striker. While he is not a traditional target man, he is effective in linking up play with teammates. His ability to hold up the ball, combined with his physical presence and skill, has earned him the nickname “MaNinja”.
