Early Life and Education
Clive Mphambela was born in Zimbabwe in 1973. His educational journey led him to the University of Zimbabwe, where he studied Finance and graduated in 1996.

One of the most prominent positions he held in the private sector was when he was the Head of the Money Market at Standard Chartered Bank. Mphambela began his journalism journey in 2012 as a journalist/senior business analyst with Alpha Media Holdings. He worked for the Zimbabwe Independent, where he gained recognition. Colleagues remember him as a cherished colleague who maintained integrity and professionalism throughout his career.
After leaving the media in 2013, Mphambela became the Advocacy Executive at the Bankers Association of Zimbabwe until 2019. He transitioned to public service and became Chief Director of Communications in the Ministry of Finance until October 2023. He was then appointed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs. In this role, he advocated for veterans’ rights and contributed to policy development.

Clive Mphambela Personal Life And Death
Following his tragic passing, colleagues, friends, and the media fraternity expressed deep sorrow. He tragically was involved in a road traffic accident on 25 July 2024 near Chivhu on 25 July. His car crashed into a stationary vehicle. He went into a coma and died on 27 July, the day he was due to celebrate his 51st birthday.
He left behind his wife, Rufaro Loveness Mphambela and three children – Nkosana Leroy (25), Nicole (24) and Thando (7).
