Emmanuel Jalai Biography | Age, Club Career, International Career

This is the biography of Emmanuel Jalai, a Zimbabwean professional footballer currently playing as a defender for Dynamos Football Club in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Age

Emmanuel Jalai was born on January 6, 1999.

Club Career

Jalai’s journey in football began when he joined Aces Youth Academy in 2013, after being scouted during the U-16 Coca-Cola tournament. He impressed the coaches during trials and subsequently joined Aces.

In 2018, Jalai tried out for How Mine and successfully secured a contract. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, How Mine decided to sell their franchise to Harare City. With only two days left in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) registration period, Jalai returned to Aces and trained with them for two weeks. He then joined CAPS United on the developmental players slot but did not play any games during his six-month stint. Eventually, he returned to Aces.

The turning point in Jalai’s career came when he was selected to represent the national U-20 squad in the Cosafa tournament held in Zambia in 2019. During the tournament, which was broadcast on Kwese TV, Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe spotted his talent and invited him for trials. Jalai impressed the coaching staff and subsequently joined Dynamos.

For the 2023 season, Jalai was appointed vice captain by the Hebert Maruwa-led Dynamos technical team.

International Career

In March 2024, Emmanuel Jalai received his first call-up to the senior national team from interim coach Norman Mapeza. He was selected to participate in the four-nation tournament in Malawi.
