Garry Mapanzure is a proud father to his son, Thomas Janari Mapanzure. The name of his son pays homage to both his father and grandfather.
Education
Garry Mapanzure received his primary and high school education at Kyle College. It was during his time at Kyle Preparatory School that he discovered his passion for music. Later, he pursued a degree in Architecture at the North China University of Technology in Beijing, China.
Career
Garry’s musical journey began with the release of his single “Wapunza” on 22 August 2017, featuring his brother Victor Mapanzure. He continued to make waves in the industry with his single “Moyo Muti” released on 14 February 2018.
His talent caught the attention of Mr Eazi, leading to his selection for the #EMPAWA100 program. As part of the program, he released the track “Slow.” In July 2019, Garry unveiled his single “Your Man.”
In January 2020, he signed a deal with Runabeat Music, an agency representing reggae, dancehall, and afro beats musicians.

In 2021, Garry Mapanzure launched a clothing line named African Sushi, inspired by his nickname. He established an online store offering various products such as T-shirts, hoodies, and sweaters.

Gary Mapanzure Fatal Accident October 2023
In a tragic turn of events, Gary Mapanzure was involved in a fatal accident in October 2023 that claimed the lives of two individuals. The accident occurred in Masvingo along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway when a vehicle, with Gary Mapanzure’s sister as the driver, collided with another vehicle coming from Beitbridge.
Regrettably, Gary Mapanzure’s nephew, his sister’s son, lost his life in the tragic crash. Furthermore, Langton Madima, a student at Great Zimbabwe University and the Students Representative Council President, also died on the spot as a result of the accident
Garry Mapanzure Death After Initially Surviving Accident
Contrary to initial reports of Garry Mapanzure’s passing, the talented musician initially survived the tragic accident that occurred on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway in Masvingo. The collision claimed the lives of two individuals and left Garry with critical injuries. His nephew and a student at Great Zimbabwe University, Langton Madima, lost their lives in the accident.
Despite earlier rumours of his death, Garry Mapanzure continued to battle for recovery in the hospital. His family expressed gratitude for the support and prayers, providing hope during a difficult time. Unfortunately, Garry Mapanzure eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the early hours of Friday, September 13, 2023.
This loss was a somber moment for Zimbabweans, adding to the dark week of accidents that had already left the nation in deep sorrow. It serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety.
