Joseph Busha was born on June 16, 1966, in Harare, Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, his father passed away just three years later. Raised by his mother, Joseph spent his childhood on the family farm in Zimbabwe.

Busha began his professional journey at esteemed institutions such as HSBC Securities, SCMB, and NEDCOR. During this time, he honed his expertise in various financial disciplines, including derivative strategies, arbitrage trading, and quantitative investment research. His visionary mindset and innovative approaches quickly set him apart as a leader in the industry.

In the year 2000, Busha embarked on a transformative path by founding JM Busha Investment Group. This social enterprise went beyond traditional business models, aiming to make a lasting social impact. Through investment management, banking services, insurance, and financial advisory solutions, Busha’s company became a driving force for change in the African finance landscape.

Expanding his reach across multiple Sadc countries, Busha’s leadership led to the establishment of subsidiary companies in Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Apart from his business endeavours, Busha is also known for his involvement in politics. He founded the FREEZIM Congress Party, where he currently serves as president. Political Ambitions

Joseph Busha, the current president of the Freezim Congress party, has long harboured political ambitions aimed at driving positive transformation in Zimbabwe.

His political journey began during the liberation struggle, where he served as a mujibha (war collaborator) within ZANU PF. However, he eventually parted ways with the party in 1986.

In the 2018 Presidential Elections, Busha made his mark by securing an impressive fourth position out of 23 contestants. Undeterred by the outcome, he continues to pursue his political aspirations, now poised to contest the presidential seat in the upcoming 2023 elections, scheduled for August. This time, he faces competition from ten other presidential candidates, including prominent figures such as Emmerson Mnangagwa (ZANU PF), Nelson Chamisa (CCC), Saviour Kasukuwere (Independent), and Douglas Mwonzora (MDC).

Joseph Busha’s determination to effect change and contribute to Zimbabwe’s development is evident in his recent book. Within its pages, he not only seeks to initiate a dialogue that underscores Africa’s potential to drive economic growth but also reveals his personal ambition to hold the highest office in Zimbabwe.

Marital Status

While not much is known about Joseph Busha’s love life and marital status, an incident allegedly involving him and his wife, Nomakwhezi Busha, reportedly unfolded in August 2019, leading to legal proceedings. The magistrates’ court in Johannesburg, South Africa, issued a protection order against Busha based on his wife’s allegations. The court ordered him to refrain from committing physical and emotional abuse, intimidation, and economic exploitation.

Subsequently, Joseph Busha took decisive action by filing a defamation lawsuit against Alois Vinga, a reporter from NewZimbabwe.com. Seeking compensation amounting to $1 million, Busha strongly contended that the published statements were entirely false, wrongful, and defamatory. He asserted that these statements unjustly implied his involvement as a convicted criminal and a perpetrator of domestic offences.
