This is the biography of Leon Chiwome, a professional English footballer currently playing for Premier League club Wolves.
Early Life
Hailing from Ditchling in Sussex, Chiwome began his football journey with Hassocks F.C. in West Sussex during his youth. At the age of 14, he transitioned to Plumpton Athletic Football Club and later played for Alfold F.C. in Surrey. It was during his time with Sussex Schools that he caught the attention of AFC Wimbledon scouts.

Club Career
Chiwome started his academy career at AFC Wimbledon before transferring to Wolves at the age of 16 in July 2022. His debut for Wolves U21 in Premier League 2 occurred in September 2022 against Liverpool U21. The young talent secured his first professional contract with Wolves in February 2023. Despite a substantial absence due to injury in 2023, he made a successful comeback in the autumn of the same year.
International Career
On 14 January 2023, shortly after turning 17, Chiwome achieved a notable feat by scoring a hat trick for England U17 in a 6-0 victory over Germany U17. He also represented England at the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Hungary. In November 2023, he received a call-up to the senior Zimbabwe national football team for FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Nigeria, although he did not feature in the finalized squad.

Wolves’ academy manager, Jonathan Hunter-Barrett, commended Chiwome’s skills as a centre forward, describing him as “big, strong, and quick.” He emphasized Chiwome’s eagerness to learn, his comfort with the ball, and his goal-scoring instincts. The Guardian recognized him as one of the best first-year scholars in the Premier League in September 2022.
