Lincoln Mutasa Biography | Tenure as ZIFA Normalisation Committee Chairman, Career as Dynamos Player and Chairman

This is the biography of Lincoln Mutasa a Zimbabwean football administrator, engineer-turned-farmer, and former chairperson of Dynamos Football Club. He currently serves as the chairperson of the ZIFA Normalisation Committee.

Career

Early Involvement in Football

Mutasa’s engagement with football began in rural areas of Zimbabwe. He later moved to the UK, where he played football at school and with various clubs. Upon returning to Zimbabwe, he joined Dynamos Football Club as a right-back.

Playing and Leadership at Dynamos

Mutasa played for Dynamos from 1981 to 1984. During his final year as a player, he also took on the role of chairman, a dual role he maintained until 1987. Under his leadership, Dynamos achieved numerous accolades and made significant investments, including a sports shop on Julius Nyerere Way, a clubhouse near the ZIFA headquarters, and land for a stadium in Waterfalls. During his tenure, Dynamos also facilitated the transfer of Moses Chunga, independent Zimbabwe’s first export player, to Belgium.

Post-Dynamos Activities

After his tenure at Dynamos, Mutasa continued playing football at a social level with Arcadia. In 2015, Lincoln Mutasa campaigned to become Zifa’s vice-president and lost to Omega Sibanda.

ZIFA Normalisation Committee

In July 2023, Lincoln Mutasa was appointed by Solomon Mudege, FIFA’s Head of Development Programs in Africa, as the chairperson of a four-member normalisation committee to manage ZIFA’s affairs for 12 months. This appointment followed the lifting of Zimbabwe’s suspension from international football. The committee members include former Mighty Warriors player and coach Rosemary Mugadza, former Highlanders player Sikhumbuzo Ndebele, and lawyer Nyasha Sanyamandwe.
