Career as a Radio Presenter

Richmond Siyakurima is a producer and presenter at Radio Zimbabwe. He hosts the shows “Dare Revarimi”, “Dzekurumbidza”, and “Musoro Wenyaya”.

Political Career

In 2018, Richmond Siyakurima participated in Zanu-PF primary elections to be the party’s parliamentary election candidate for the Uzumba Marambapfungwe Constituency. His participation, as well as that of other Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) staff, was criticized by the opposition, who claimed it was evidence of media bias.

Awards

In 2016, Richmond Siyakurima won the Zimbabwe Radio Awards (Zira) for Most Popular Presenter.

Murder Case

Richmond Siyakurima was mentioned in the murder case of Lancelot Zvirongwe, a ZANU PF special interest councillor for Banket Town Council. Zvirongwe was allegedly murdered by MDC councillors Emmanuel Chinanzvavana, Fani Tembo, and Givemore Hodzi. In a request for remand, Detective Sergeant Majecha, the investigating officer, indicated that Zvirongwe sent a text message to Siyakurima alerting him about his kidnapping. The message implicated Givemore Hodzi as one of the assailants. It is unclear why Zvirongwe chose to inform Siyakurima about his abduction.
