This is the biography of Takunda Benhura a professional Zimbabwean footballer who currently plays as a striker for Ngezi Platinum Stars Football Club in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. In 2023, he won the Golden Boot winner in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Background
Benhura’s upbringing traces back to rural Mhondoro, where he stayed with his grandmother before eventually joining his mother Marry Nehanda in Kadoma. He has three siblings named Lionel, Ashley, and Wisely.
During his childhood, Benhura faced a peculiar ailment which caused his skin to peel while residing with his maternal grandmother in rural Mhondoro. His family extensively sought solutions, consulting clinics, traditional healers, and prophets.

Club Career
Initially, Benhura’s mother was hesitant to endorse his passion for football. However, her support grew upon learning of CUMA Academy’s interest in her son.
Benhura emerged as a promising talent from the Ngezi Platinum Stars development program. He quickly rose to prominence after showcasing exceptional performances in the 2022 season with the Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-20 side in the second-tier league.
During the 2022 season, he scored 14 goals for the Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-19 side in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League before earning a promotion to the senior team.
While playing for the Ngezi Platinum Under-19 side in the 2022 season, he netted five goals in the first three games of the season. As a result, he was swiftly promoted to the senior team. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury shortly after his promotion.
After a late recovery, he returned to the junior team and showcased his scoring prowess by scoring eight goals in just four games.
In 2023, Benhura had an outstanding season, securing the coveted Golden Boot award ahead of his main rival, Obriel Chirinda of Bulawayo Chiefs, who finished with 12 goals.
For a significant portion of the campaign, he played in the shadow of Chirinda and Fortune Binzi of Manica Diamonds. However, the turning point came in November when he scored a crucial goal in a 3-1 victory over Cranborne Bullets.
His impressive performances in front of goal contributed significantly to Ngezi Platinum Stars winning their first-ever Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title with two games to spare.
