This is the biography of Merit Thoko Munzwembiri a television personality and sports administrator, best known for her role as a sports journalist at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
Education
Merit Munzwembiri has a strong educational background in sports administration and management. She holds an IOC Diploma in Management of Olympic Sport Organisations and has completed several other sports management-related courses. She participated in the Advanced Sport Management Course, a capacity-building program organized by the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC). Her educational qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Science Honours in Political Science from the University of Zimbabwe
- Diploma in Management of Olympic Sport Organisations from the International Olympic Committee
- Professional Diploma in Sustainable Community Development & Humanitarian Project Management from Training & Development International Trust
Career
Zimbabwe Olympic Committee
Merit Munzwembiri represented Team Zimbabwe as a press attaché during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. In April 2021, she was elected to the board of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) with 22 votes.
In September 2022, Munzwembiri was appointed as the chef de mission for the 2023 Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia. She also holds the position of chair of gender, equality, inclusivity, and diversity within the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee.

Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC)
In May 2024, Merit Munzwembiri assumed the role of acting Head of News and Current Affairs, taking over from Jackie Gwemende.
During her tenure at ZBC, Munzwembiri has held various positions within the organization, including:
- Sports Reporter (March 2005 – October 2009)
- Sport Editor (November 2009 – July 2015)
- News Editor (July 2016 – July 2019)
- Manager of ZBC News (July 2019 – Present)
