Michael Nees was born on July 23, 1967.
Qualifications
He holds a UEFA Pro Licence from Germany and a Master of Arts degree in Sports Science, Performance Physiology, and Ethnology from the University of Heidelberg. Additionally, he has obtained a coaching qualification in “Life Kinetik,” a training methodology introduced to football by former Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp.

Michael Nees had a brief playing career, lasting less than five years in the lower leagues.
Career in Football Administration
Japan
Nees began his post-playing career in 2001 as a technical advisor for Japan.
England
In 2005 and 2006, Nees was part of the support staff for the England National Team during the FIFA World Cup in Germany, working under FIFA.
South Africa and Israel
After working in Rwanda as a head coach, Nees moved to South Africa, where he served as the technical director for South African football. He later held a similar role in Israel from 2013 to 2015.
Kosovo
In January 2017, Nees became the technical director of the Football Federation of Kosovo. His appointment was supported and funded by the German Football Association. He managed all technical work for Kosovo’s national teams, from youth teams to the senior team.

Career as a Football Coach
Seychelles
Nees transitioned to full-time coaching on February 14, 2003, when he was appointed head coach of Seychelles, following the resignation of former coach Dominique Bathenay. Nees resigned after one year.
Rwanda
In 2006, Nees took on a coaching role in Rwanda but stayed for only one year.
Israel
During his administrative tenure in Israel between 2013 and 2015, Nees also coached the national U21 team.
Kosovo
During his time in Kosovo, Nees led the national U21 side for a year until February 2022. This position was his last coaching role before being appointed as the head coach of Zimbabwe’s senior men’s national team on July 30, 2024, by the Zimbabwe Football Association Normalisation Committee.
Zimbabwe
On July 30, 2024, Nees was appointed the head coach of Zimbabwe’s senior men’s national team by the Zimbabwe Football Association Normalisation Committee.
