Genius Kadungure, also known as Ginimbi, was a Zimbabwean socialite and entrepreneur.
He established Pioneer Gases, a gas company with operations in Botswana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, where he served as the founder and CEO. He was the proprietor of Dreams Nightlife Club.
Background
On October 10th, 1984, Genius Kadungure was born into a family of four in Domboshava. He had two sisters named Nelia and Juliet.
Business Career
At the age of 17, Kadungure reportedly began engaging in small business transactions, acting as a middle-man to procure gas for domestic users.
With the help of a friend who worked at Angolan Airways offices, he secured his first contract and continued to follow up on gas sales, ultimately turning his fortunes around.
In just one year, he had purchased a car and two years later, he upgraded to a Mercedes Benz S Class.
Kadungure went on to establish Pioneer Gases, which is now a part of Piko Trading Group and supplies gas to various sectors, including commercial, industrial, public, and retail.
Networth
Although Ginimbi’s exact net worth as of 2020 was uncertain, he was believed to be worth millions of dollars, primarily derived from his multiple businesses. One of his notable ventures was Pioneer Gases, which provides gas to a wide range of sectors, such as public, industrial, commercial, and retail.
Cars
Ginimbi had an impressive fleet of luxury cars. His collection featured several high-end vehicles, such as a Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster, a Bentley, a Ferrari Spider, Rolls Royce, and a Land Rover.

Controversies
Lavish Parties
Kadungure was renowned for his extravagant lifestyle, earning him the nickname “the king of bling”. He was particularly known for hosting lavish parties, one of which was an expensive all-white birthday bash in Harare in 2010.
The three-day event, held at his Greystone Park home, reportedly cost an estimated US$17,000 and drew scores of people from Harare’s affluent northern suburbs.
Guests were treated to high-end whiskey, colorful cocktails, champagne, and cigars.
In 2012, Kadungure hosted another opulent birthday party in Botswana, which was said to have cost an estimated P250,000 (equivalent to US $32,000 at the time).
In 2013, he held another three-day celebration at his rural home in Domboshava to commemorate the completion of his new mansion in the area.
All-White Birthday Party In 2020
On October 10, 2020, Kadungure celebrated his birthday with his usual strictly-by-invitation all-white party, which was a huge success.
The event caused a stir on social media, with many people commenting on the stunning white dress worn by Vimbai Zimuto.
Among the guests were Stunner and Vokal, who is Khama Billiat’s handler. The popular musician Killer T was also in attendance and had reportedly become close friends with Kadungure over the years.
Hiring an Instagram model from the US
According to reports, in May 2018, Kadungure hired a model from the United States to add some excitement to the opening of his Club Sankayi. He reportedly referred to the American model as his friend. Taking to his social media page at that time, Kadungure said:
The public always has something to say regarding my every move and I have come to accept the idea that as a public figure, I’m entitled to scrutiny. I don’t think I owe anyone any explanation but to keep the record straight Cici is my friend and she can always visit. We met in the United States of America, that is when we became friends and I am glad that our friendship is growing stronger each day.
Ginimbi And Mutumwa Mawere
In February 2018, Ginimbi refuted allegations of owing R340,000 to Mutumwa Mawere, a businessman based in South Africa.
The disagreement between the two resulted in a social media spat on Twitter after Mawere requested Kadungure to repay his debt. Kadungure insisted that he had already settled his dues.
Personal Life
It has been reported that in 2014, Kadungure was in a relationship with businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla, who was 11 years older than him.
However, there is no information to suggest that they got married. In April 2018, Kadungure confirmed that he and Mkandla had ended their relationship.
He told the Eastern Times that he was currently single but maintained a good business relationship with Mkandla.
Death
Tragically, on the morning of November 8, 2020, Kadungure was involved in a fatal car accident in Harare on Legacy Way, formerly known as Borrowdale Road.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the spokesperson for the Zimbabwe national police, confirmed Kadungure’s death, stating that he died instantly at the scene of the accident.
Reports indicate that Kadungure’s vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle between 5 and 6 am, and the impact caused the car to catch fire.
Sadly, three other passengers in Kadungure’s car also lost their lives in the accident: Moana, Karim (a Malawian national), and Alisha (a Mozambican national).
