Ammara Brown is a famous singer, actress, and brand ambassador from Zimbabwe. She sings Afro-pop/RnB music. Her dad, Andy Brown, was also a well-known singer from Zimbabwe. She was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and started her career in the 1990s. Her first performance was in a TV commercial with Oliver Mtukudzi. At 13, she made her first demo song for her parents. In 2003, she joined her father’s band, The Storm, as a backing vocalist.
Age and Early Life
Ammara Nury Brown was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, on September 6, 1988. Her parents are Andy Brown and Soraya Khan. She is the second oldest of her father’s ten children and the first from her mother and father. Her parents got divorced in 1994.
Education
When she was ten, she moved with her mother to the USA for four years. Ammara went to Alameda High School from 2002 to 2003. After returning to Zimbabwe, she attended Westridge High School to finish her education.
Early Music Career
She is the daughter of a famous musician named Andy Brown. She has performed with her father’s band and with other artists. Ammara signed up for a record label called Gallo Records, which her father was also a part of.
In 2008, Ammara competed in the Idols East and Southern Africa and made it to the top 10 but was eliminated and placed fifth. In 2010, she performed at the FIFA soccer World Cup in South Africa with Flabba from Skwatta Kamp. Ammara has also performed for Malawian presidents Bingu Wa Mutharika and Joyce Banda. She has shared the stage with acts such as Mi Casa, Skwata Kamp, P-Squared, Winky D, and Tehn Diamond.
At the Lion Lager Beer Festival in 2013, Ammara made a surprise appearance on stage and twerked for Nigerian singer D’banj. In 2014, she released an album called “Crucify Me”, with a controversial cover that showed a creature resembling a woman being crucified on a cross with the head of a crow or eagle on another cross. Some people criticized her for mimicking the crucifixion of Jesus. Still, Ammara explained that the song and the cover were about a woman cheating on a man and had nothing to do with religion.
Later Music Career
In recent years, Ammara Brown has managed to solidify her name as a musician. The singer has hits loved by people around Africa, like Svoto, Akiliz, Mukoko and many more. She has featured artists like Nigeria’s Mr Eazi, Jah Prayzah, Tytan, ExQ and many more.
Ammara has many Awards to prove she is as talented as her father or even better.
Love life and Children
Brown has seen abuse happen, although some sources say she was abused. She is a single mother with a son named Khameel, a dancer from Angola, but she doesn’t call him her boyfriend anymore.
There were rumours that Brown had a romantic relationship with Jah Prayzah, a musician she collaborated with on a song called Kure Kure. However, Brown denied the allegations, saying they were just friends. She also said she would never want to break up Jah Prayzah’s marriage.
In 2014, Brown announced that she was in love with a musician named Roki, and there were reports that they would get married. Later, it was said that Brown turned down Roki’s proposal, but there were still rumours that they saw each other. In 2015, Brown said they were just friends, but why they broke up is unclear.
She likes to keep her relationships private and does not say who she is dating on her socials.
