Career
Chawawa is recognized for his creation and portrayal of various characters, including a posh drill rapper named “Unknown P” and the character “Jonny Oliver,” a chef. The development of Unknown P is explained by Chawawa as a response to the appropriation and false ownership of black culture prevalent in Western societies. His comedic influences include John Oliver, Andy Zaltzman, and Sacha Baron Cohen.
His popularity surged during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, particularly due to his 2019 Fire in the Booth freestyle and the parody news sketches he crafted. In November 2020, Atlantic Records released his debut single, “Piers Morgan,” followed by a Daily Duppy on GRM Daily in December. His second single, “Pain au Chocolat,” was released in August 2021. Chawawa has collaborated with notable figures such as comedians Mo Gilligan and Michael Dapaah, as well as musicians Unknown T, S1mba, and KSI.
In June 2022, Chawawa was announced as a contestant for the 14th series of Taskmaster.
