Ngonidzashe Kambarami is a renowned musician from Zimbabwe, widely recognized by his stage name Ngonie.

Age

Ngonie was born on 19 October 1983 in Mabvuku, Harare. He comes from a family of four boys, being the youngest among his siblings.

Education

Ngonie received his education at Donnybrook Primary School and Mabvuku High School, both located in Mabvuku. He also attended Foundation College in Old Tafara, Harare, Zimbabwe.

Music Career

His debut song “Ndiwe Chete” launched his music career in 2002, leading to the release of his first album.

Ngonie’s music is a blend of genres, including ragga, Afro-jazz, rhythm and blues, jazz, and soul music.

Ngonie’s albums have been produced by various individuals and labels. For example, his album “Ndinoimba” was produced by the duo of Tatenda “Take 5” Jenami and Sipho “TBA” Mkhuhlane of That Squad.

His album “Angu Mashoko” was produced by Wofman (Pedyo Newe) and Gordon Mutekedzi, TBA and Lyton Ngolomi for Highway Entertainment, Ngonie’s own label.

His album “idenderedzwa” was produced by Joseph “Joey” Madziyire, Sipho “Playboy” Mkuhlane, Lyton Ngolomi, Clive “Mono” Mukundu, and McDonald “McDee” Chidavaenzi for Ngonie’s private label Highway Entertainment.

Awards

In 2004, Ngonie was honored with the prestigious Best Urban Grooves Male award at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA). His exceptional talent was recognized for his remarkable contribution to the music industry.

Furthermore, his captivating a cappella rendition of “Donna” during the Spotlight 2002 show, alongside Another Trybe, garnered significant acclaim.

TV Appearances And Performances

Ngonie has showcased his talent as a contestant on notable Zimbabwean television shows like Spotlight and Superstar.

Furthermore, he has made guest appearances on popular programs such as Studio 263, which is aired on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and Obe TV (Sky channel 223).

His songs, namely “Angela” and “Shamwari,” have been prominently featured as background music in several episodes of Studio 263, adding to the overall ambiance and appeal of the show.
