Peter Ndlovu is a Zimbabwean professional football player who is considered one of the greatest African players of all time. He is currently the team manager of the Mamelodi Sundowns.
Background
The Zimbabwean football player was born on the 25th of February 1973 in Bulawayo. He is 50 years old.
He began his career in 1988 with Highlanders Football Club in Zimbabwe before moving to Coventry City in England in 1991. During his time in England, he made over 200 appearances in the Premier League and scored 45 goals.
Ndlovu is an active member of the Apostolic Faith Mission of Zimbabwe, a Pentecostal church based in the country. He is known to be devout and is often seen attending church services.
In 2020, Ndlovu was involved in a car accident in Zimbabwe in which his brother, Adam Ndlovu, was killed. He was later charged with culpable homicide, but the charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence.
The footballer was married to gospel artist Sharon Dee. In November 2009, Sharon Dee decided to end their marriage because the star was cheating on her. Reports suggest Sharon demanded monthly money to support their children.
He has 13 kids.
Career
Ndlovu started his football career at an early age. He began his professional career with the Highlanders Football Club in Zimbabwe in 1988 and soon became the team’s star player.
In 1991, Ndlovu moved to Coventry City in England, and he immediately impacted the team. He scored a total of 27 goals in three seasons with Coventry.
In 1995, he moved to Sheffield United and then to Huddersfield Town in 1998. He was the top scorer in the 1999–2000 season at Huddersfield.
Ndlovu’s beaming career in Europe also included stints at Birmingham City, Blackpool, and Oldham Athletic. In all, he scored a total of 88 goals in the English Premier League.
Ndlovu was also a key member of the Zimbabwe National Team and has captained the side since 1998. He has scored a total of 38 goals for the team and has also represented his country at the African
Controversies
Ndlovu has been involved in several controversies throughout his career. In 2003, he was accused of assaulting a referee during a match in the African Cup of Nations, but the charges were later dropped.
He was also accused of match-fixing in 2009, but the charges were later dismissed.
Recently, Peter trended after it emerged that he struggled to pay maintenance for his 13 children. He asked the court to reduce the maintenance he was paying his baby mama.
