Real Name
Shashl was born Ashleigh Angel Moyo. During an interview, Shashl revealed the origin of her stage name.
She explained that her mother often mixed up her and her sister’s names, with her sister being named Sherris.
As a result, her mother would sometimes accidentally call her “Shashly.” This name stuck with Shashl and eventually became the inspiration for her stage name.
Family
Shashl is the daughter of former Minister of Health and Child Care Obadiah Moyo and Lucy Memory Moyo. She has 3 siblings.
Education
Not much is known about where she did her primary education.
However, as for her secondary education, Shashl attended Dominican Convent, an esteemed all-girls high school in Zimbabwe.
Despite initially planning to study medicine, her path led her towards a different direction as she discovered her true passion for music.

Music Career
Shashl’s passion for music began in her childhood and blossomed with the encouragement of her father, who shares her artistic background.
She honed her skills by performing at school events and nurtured her talent through her studies in South Africa, where she continued to pursue her love for music.
She released her debut single ‘No More‘ in 2017 and the following year Shashl became the first Zimbabwean female musician to get signed under Universal Music Group Africa.
In 2018, Shashl was also nominated at the African Magazine Muzik Awards (Afrimma) under the Best Female Southern Africa category.
Aside from being a singer, can compose songs and play musical instruments.
The talented musician can play 10 instruments including marimba, mbira, guitar, drums, violin, and flute, to name just a few.

Scandals
In 2019, Shashl was reportedly assaulted by a South African national Ovio Mgijima at Pablo’s Night Club.
Shashl was allegedly poured wine on Ovio because she thought he was dating her boyfriend Godfrey Utsiwegota
The singer accused her then-boyfriend and Ovio of assault. She claims they both assaulted her until she lost consciousness. Utsiwegota denied ever laying his hands on her.
Last year, in 2022, Shashl and her former boyfriend and producer Levels, went viral on social media after their bedroom tape was leaked.
Shashl accused Dj Levels of leaking their s*tape and raping her.
Dj Levels was arrested and charged with rape. Shashl however, later dropped the charges.
