Anna “Chibaby” Honde is a Zimbabwean comic artist renowned for her comedic sketches shared on social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
Background
Anna Honde was born and raised in Bulawayo, although she originally hails from Bikita in Masvingo.
Career
In 2014, Anna Honde became part of the Sekunjalo Ma’ Africa traditional dance ensemble and together they auditioned in Dreamstar.
Following their successful audition, Honde was afforded the chance to embark on a two-week tour of China with the group.
After the tour, she remained in China for a year, during which time she began creating impromptu comedic videos using her newly acquired phone.
According to Anna Honde, she initially created the videos primarily for her own amusement. However, some of the videos began to gain traction and went viral, revealing that she had unknowingly garnered an audience who appreciated her content.
Honde received countless messages of encouragement urging her to keep going, which motivated her to continue even upon her return to Zimbabwe.
Personal Life
Anna was in a romantic relationship with DJ Shugeta, real name Tafadzwa Ben.
The couple had been in a relationship for three years, but when Shugeta proposed marriage, Anna declined, resulting in the comedian breaking up with him on social media the following day.
She made an announcement in July 2021, revealing that she and DJ Shugeta were no longer together.
Taking to her Facebook page, she wrote:
It is with great sadness that I write to you guys letting you know that we are no longer together wth Tafadzwa. The reason why I decided to tell you guys is because you are my family so handidi muzozvinzwa from other people and please handizode maquestions akawanda becoz my reasons are personal. Thank you.
After the breakup, DJ Shugeta went on a live stream and was seen crying uncontrollably.
