Tafadzwa Ben, better known as DJ Shugeta, is a Zimbabwean radio personality, musician, music producer, and comedian.
Career
Music
One of DJ Shugeta’s notable achievements was producing the song “Denga Dzvene” in 2018, featuring Roki and Nicholas Zakaria.
Comedy
Ben teamed up with Naiza Boom for the production of “Class yemadofo” and worked with Kapfupi and his wife Mai Ngaa on various comedy skits.
However, in October 2020, Shugeta took to Facebook to announce that he and Kapfupi had decided to part ways.
He emphasized that the separation was amicable and that both parties had reached the decision after a peaceful discussion.
Despite the split, DJ Shugeta expressed his gratitude towards Kapfupi for being his mentor and guiding him in his career as an artist.
Radio
DJ Shugeta was the host of the radio show called “Sowe raMadzibaba Shugeta (MshikaShika)” on National FM.
He joined Power FM where he now hosts the Drive Thru with Butterphly.
Awards
In 2015, Shugeta was honored with the First Pack award for Best Collaboration for the song “Ndiri Hondo,” featuring Tobbie.
Additionally, he was nominated in the Zim Hop Awards in 2017 for Best Gospel Track and Best Collaboration categories.
Personal Life
Ben was in a relationship with comedian Anna “Chibaby” Honde.
The couple dated for three years until Anna turned down Shugeta’s marriage proposal, consequently leading to the comedian dumping the Dj on social media the following day.
In July 2021 Anna Honde announced the end of her relationship with DJ Shugeta. Taking to her Facebook page Anna wrote:
It is with great sadness that I write to you guys letting you know that we are no longer together wth Tafadzwa. The reason why I decided to tell you guys is because you are my family so handidi muzozvinzwa from other people and please handizode maquestions akawanda becoz my reasons are personal. Thank you.
After the breakup with Anna Honde was announced, DJ Shugeta did a live stream where he was seen crying uncontrollably.
In December 2022, it was reported that Shugeta had found love again after pictures of him in the company of an unidentified woman circulated on social media.
Battle With Depression
In August 2020, DJ Shugeta took to social media to share that he was going through a difficult situation, which led many of his followers to fear that he was contemplating suicide.
In his post, he admitted to having had thoughts of suicide and revealed that he had been struggling with depression, even though he appeared to be smiling on the outside.
