This is the biography of Fortune Chasi, a Zimbabwean politician, lawyer, and musician who has served as a Government minister under the ZANU PF party. He is popular for his outspokenness, his anti-corruption stance, and his musical talent.
Early Life and Education
Fortune Chasi was born on 5 February 1965 in Mazowe, a district in Mashonaland Central Province. He attended Kanyemba Primary School and Mpopoma High School. He then studied law at the University of Zimbabwe and graduated with a degree in law.
Professional Career
Chasi is a senior partner at Chasi, Mlotshwa & Co. Law Firm, which is based in Harare. He is also a musician who has released several songs.

Fortune Chasi Political Career
Chasi joined the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) party and became an elected Member of Parliament for Mazowe South Constituency in 2013. He was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs by President Robert Mugabe in September 2013.
Chasi served in this position until August 2018, when he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In May 2019, Chasi was elevated to the Minister of Energy and Power Development, replacing Joram Gumbo. He was tasked with addressing the country’s chronic power shortages and implementing reforms in the energy sector. However, he was fired from this post in August 2020, after he allegedly clashed with the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) board over corruption and mismanagement issues. He was replaced by Soda Zhemu.
Fortune Chasi Personal Life
Chasi is married and has a family. He however seems to be a private person who does not share much about his personal affairs.
After his dismissal from Cabinet, Chasi remained in the public eye. He had also gained popularity so much that people were creating posters for him, that he should run for President.
In December 2020, Chasi won a boxing match against controversial content creator Ray Vines.
