Nox Guni is a Zimbabwean musician, performer, songwriter, and producer. He rose to prominence during the early 2000s as part of the Urban Grooves movement in Zimbabwe. With a career spanning over two decades, Nox Guni has established himself as a prominent figure in the music industry, known for his versatile musical style and captivating performances. From his early hits like “Iwe Maria” to his collaborations with renowned artists, Nox continues to make waves in the music scene.

Family

Nox hails from Zaka, Masvingo, and is part of a vibrant family of six. As the second eldest, he has four brothers and one sister named Tendai. The names of his siblings are Martin, Gabriel, Tafadzwa, and Tinashe.

Education

Nox Guni possesses an impressive educational background. He completed his primary education at Kuwadzana 3 Primary School. For his secondary education, he attended Ellis Robins Boys High School and Morgan High School. Nox then pursued a Bachelor of Commerce Honors Degree in Marketing Management from Midlands State University. He furthered his studies with postgraduate studies at the University of South Africa.

Music Career

Nox Guni, a Zimbabwean musician, performing artist, songwriter, and producer based in South Africa, gained recognition as part of the Urban Grooves movement in Zimbabwe during the early 2000s.

Nox’s music career took off in 2002 when he participated in an audition for the local talent show called Superstar. Despite making progress in the competition, he had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts with his advanced-level examinations. Nonetheless, he made his debut as Nox with his first major track, “Iwe Maria,” in the same year. His entry into the music scene was facilitated by his involvement with SHAPE Zimbabwe projects.

In 2004, Nox released his first album titled “Wandipengesa,” featuring the popular single “Maria” accompanied by a well-produced music video. In 2007, he formed the group Afrounik with Tawanda Mugodi and Trevor Dongo, and they released an album called “Unikness” that included the hit song “Kana Musipo.”

Nox was a prominent figure in the Urban Grooves revolution, which also propelled artists like Maskiri to prominence. Before his relocation to South Africa, Nox released his own album titled “Chapter 3.”

In 2009, he unveiled the album “Music, Love and Me,” which included the track “Wandinoda” – a song that caught the attention of Sony Music Africa and later became the soundtrack for the reality show Big Brother on MNET.

Throughout his career, Nox has collaborated with various artists from the region, including South African musicians Makhadzi, Mr. Brown, DJ Tira, and Master KG. His musical journey has showcased his talent and versatility, establishing him as a notable figure in the music industry.

Relationship with Belinda Mutinhiri

In 2012, Nox Guni was once in a relationship with Belinda Mutinhiri, who was reportedly seven-year age older than him. Their connection grew so strong that there were talks of settling down and even a potential wedding. Belinda, the daughter of prominent politician Tracy Mutinhiri, holds a notable background. Her father, Retired Brigadier Ambrose Mutinhiri, served as the Youth Minister, while her mother previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Services. Belinda also happens to be the elder sister of Vimbai Mutinhiri, who represented Zimbabwe as a housemate in the 2011 edition of Big Brother Amplified.

Marriage

Nox Guni was once married to Zimbabwean UK-based socialite Tallyn Ndudzo. In 2018, Nox Guni entered into marriage with Tallyn Ndudzo, but their relationship was marred by difficulties and challenges. The journey they embarked on together was far from smooth, and they faced numerous ups and downs along the way.

The turmoil in their marriage reached a peak when Tallyn took to Facebook and shared a three-hour-long rant, where she openly expressed the hardships she had experienced during her time with Nox. In a raw and vulnerable confession, she even revealed contemplating suicide at one point.

As time went on, it became evident that reconciling their differences proved to be an incredibly challenging task for both Nox and Tallyn. Throughout this period, Nox remained silent, choosing not to address Ndudzo’s public confirmation of the breakdown of their marriage.

For Tallyn, the breaking point came when communication between her and Nox Guni completely broke down. She implied that infidelity may have played a role in the deterioration of their relationship, adding further strain to their already troubled marriage.

Arrest

Nox was recently arrested in Ireland. He was detained by Dublin Police in Ireland on suspicion of credit card fraud. The incident took place during his stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Temple Bar.

Upon settling his bill of €787 (US$861), which encompassed room service expenses, allegations emerged that Nox had made the payment using the credit card details of an American woman. Consequently, Nox “pleaded guilty to obtaining services by deception at the hotel using another person’s Mastercard number.”

In his defence, Nox’s lawyer, Alexander Rafter, explained that Nox was not responsible for booking the hotel room himself. It was revealed that an unnamed promoter had made the arrangements on his behalf.

Following his arrest, Nox was granted bail and the case was adjourned until September, allowing for further legal proceedings to take place.
