Early Life
Sekuru Banda was born and raised in Mangoli Katuli village in Malawi. He spent most of his childhood in his hometown and later moved to Ghana to refine his healing skills. Banda indicated that he studied at Ghana Herbal Medical Students’ Association (GHEMSA) institute in Kumasi, Ghana for four years.
He inherited his healing abilities from his father, who was a prominent traditional healer in Malawi. He does not remember a time when he was not healing people, as he started at a very young age.
Speaking on how he started healing, Sekuru Banda said in an interview,
“Healing runs in the blood. This is a family thing. Our clan is feared in Malawi where my late father was a prominent healer. I don’t even remember when I started healing people since I was very young then.” he said.
Rise To Fame In Zimbabwe
Sekuru Banda is a well-known figure in Zimbabwe, revered for his purported ability to perform seemingly miraculous tasks. His rise to fame can be traced back to an article titled “Gudo pfacha pasmallhouse” that was published in the vernacular publication Kwayedza. The article praised his abilities, which include reuniting lost lovers, punishing cheating partners, and dispensing justice to thieves.
Since then, his services have been sought after by people from different races, classes, and religious beliefs. Even local church leaders have reportedly turned to him for help. His reputation has grown to the extent that he is now considered a respected traditional healer and spiritual guide in Zimbabwe.

How Much Does Sekuru Banda Charge
According to the Sunday Mail, Sekuru Banda is now clearly oversubscribed, with some clients spending days without getting an opportunity to meet him.
In a 2017 article, the publication stated that to have the opportunity to consult the traditional healer, one has to pay US$60.
The article went on to say
“For one to have the opportunity to consult the traditional healer, they have to fork out US$60. With Sekuru Banda attending to no less than 500 clients every day, this translates into him pocketing a cool $30 000 every day.”

Sekuru Banda is married and has four children. He is a practising Muslim.

Sekuru Banda said he receives 20 traditional healers from Southern African countries on a weekly basis and teaches them the ropes.

Sekuru Banda has claimed that he can solve 70% of his clients’ problems instantly, with 20% getting resolved after a short period, and he has a failure rate of 10%. He added that he cannot rid clients of the HIV virus or raise people from the dead.
