Career

Tinopona Katsande’s modelling career was the catalyst for her rise to fame. Her journey began as a teenager when she won the title of Miss Mutare in 1997. She later went on to become a finalist in the Miss Zimbabwe pageant that same year.

Her time in California, United States of America, helped her refine her fashion and modelling skills, leading to opportunities to work with various brands.

After returning home in 1999, she secured a job as one of the presenters of the Zimbabwe TV breakfast show on AM Zimbabwe. This opportunity eventually led to her foray into acting.

She also worked as a disk jockey and on-air personality at ZiFM, one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent radio stations.

However, her tenure at ZiFM was cut short after her vengeful ex-boyfriend allegedly made public a part of her dark past.

As an actress, she made her television debut as Joyce Huni, one of the main characters in the local soapie Studio 263, which began airing in 2002. In 2017, she also appeared in the drama Kuchina: The Genesis.

Tinopona also started a School of Cosmetology, which offers services to clients and trains individuals interested in the arts of cosmetology.

She was also reported to have married Virimai Chigariro in 2015. However, their marriage was marred by incidents of domestic violence, which led Tinopona to file for a peace order protection with the Harare police force in 2016.

During this period, there was another shocking revelation when Tinopona’s husband’s sister publicly claimed that the couple were never married and only had a mutual romantic relationship.

However, Tinopona and her husband share a son named Yambuko NokutendaIshe.
