Evidence Chihera is a Zimbabwean musician and former gospel artiste who is now working in the Afro-fusion genre. She is also a social media personality and a self-confessed former commercial sex worker.

Evidence Chihera is infamous for having claimed to have quit gospel music to satisfy the desires of her flesh. She claimed to have turned to sex work after having bedded several married men, some musicians, and even some men of cloth while singing gospel in the name of support. To escape the stigma, she turned to Afro-fusion music and released a song called Hachisekanwi, which tells the story of her struggles.

Real Name

Evidence Chihera’s real name is Evidence Jiri. The name “Chihera” refers to a woman descending from the Mhofu (Eland) lineage/totem. In the Shona tradition, Chihera is a fiercely independent, assertive, free-spirited, and no-nonsense woman.

 

Age & Date of Birth

There are no publicly available records for Evidence Chihera’s date of birth. However, in a February 2021 interview, it was revealed that Evidence Chihera was 29 years old. This means that as of 2023, she is 31 years old.

Gospel Career

During her gospel music career, Evidence Chihera released two albums, Ngandikundi in 2008 and Ndirwirei Jesu in 2010.

During her gospel music career, she also confessed to dating married men, including several men of the cloth and musicians.

Explaining why she quit Gospel music, Chihera,

“I am no longer into gospel music because I have smeared my garments with fornication and adultery”.

Reinvention As Afro-Fusion Musician

Evidence Chihera is now working in the Afro-fusion genre. One of her recent songs, “Hachisekanwi”, was inspired by the stigma she suffered after turning to sex work. She also released a six-track album, “Nhamo ndimirire,” and collaborated with Peter Moyo and several artists based in South Africa on some of the tracks.
