This is the biography of Vimbai Mutinhiri, a Zimbabwean actress, model and television personality who has achieved fame and success in the entertainment industry. She is also a former Big Brother Africa housemate.

 

Early Life and Education

Vimbai Mutinhiri was born on February 18, 1987, in Harare, Zimbabwe. She is the youngest of four children of Brigadier (Rtd) Ambrose Mutinhiri and Tracy Mutinhiri, both former Zimbabwean cabinet ministers. She lost her elder sister, Belinda, to a car accident in 2014.

Vimbai grew up in Belgrade, Serbia, and Johannesburg, South Africa. She attended St Edward’s School, Oxford, and Arundel School in Harare, finishing in 2000 and 2002 respectively. She then studied Social Sciences at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in politics, philosophy and economics.

Vimbai Mutinhiri Acting and Modelling Career

The TV personality started her career as an actress at the age of 15 when she featured in a short film titled “Who’s In Charge”, which was shown at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival.

While studying at the University of Cape Town, she continued modelling and participated in various fashion shows. In 2011, Vimbai took part in Big Brother Africa season 6 (Amplified), where she finished 9th out of 26 contestants.

After Big Brother, Vimbai became a popular TV presenter and hosted various major African events, such as the first Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, broadcast live to 54 countries from Lagos, Nigeria. She also co-hosted the entertainment and lifestyle show, “Star Gist”, on Africa Magic Entertainment, with South African Lawrence Maleka.

Vimbai is currently the face of Castle Milk Stout (Cameroon) and has also been on the runway at the SA Fashion Week and the Zimbabwe Fashion Week. In 2022, following the death of Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua, she hosted the show My TB Joshua Moments on Emmanuel TV. Currently, she is a news anchor on Arise News in Nigeria.

Vimbai Mutinhiri Personal Life and Style

In May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vimbai married Andrew Ekpenyong, a Nigerian businessman and the second son of the chairman of the Davandy group, Chief Asuquo Ekpeyong. They currently have two children.

Vimbai is known for her love of colours and well-tailored clothing. In an interview with the Nigerian daily, Punch, she said, “I love structured, well-fitting dresses. Also, well-tailored clothing. I have always loved colours, especially on dark skin.”
