ZESA’s Urgent Advisory: Prepaid Electricity System Maintenance Ahead of New Year

Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of ZESA, has issued a crucial warning to its customers regarding an imminent shutdown of the Prepaid Electricity  Vending System. The shutdown is scheduled for maintenance and upgrades in preparation for the new year.

Maintenance Schedule

ZETDC communicated that the Prepaid Electricity System is set to go offline from Sunday, 31st December 2023, at 1700 hours until Monday, 1st January 2024, at 0600 hours. This temporary shutdown will impede customers from making any electricity credit purchases during this period.

Customer Advisory: Ensure Sufficient Credits

In light of this maintenance exercise, ZESA Holdings has strongly urged all customers to ensure they have ample electricity credits in advance to tide over this downtime. It’s crucial for customers to secure sufficient tokens to avoid facing power disruptions during the specified maintenance hours.

ZESA’s Official Statement

ZETDC issued a formal statement, emphasizing the necessity for consumers to prepare adequately for the forthcoming downtime:

“The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) would like to advise its valued customers countrywide that the utility is going to be carrying out annual year-end prepayment vending system maintenance from Sunday, 31 December 2023, at 1700 hours to Monday, 1 January 2024, at 0600 hours. The prepayment system will not be available during this period.”

The statement continued, highlighting the significance of ensuring a steady supply of electricity tokens:

“The power utility advises its valued customers to purchase adequate electricity tokens to ensure that they do not run out of credit during the maintenance period. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
