Zimbabwean Woman Fined Massive US$10 000 After Getting Married To TWO (2) Men At The Same Time

In a staggering legal saga that recently unfolded in Zimbabwe, Thelmah Guvakumwe, a woman from Harare, has been slapped with a substantial US$10 000 fine by the High Court. This unprecedented penalty comes in the wake of Guvakumwe’s conviction for an unusual and illegal act – marrying two men simultaneously.

Damages Awarded for Bigamy

Cloudio Jume, the aggrieved husband, emerged victorious in the legal battle, securing a compensation of US$5,000.

Jume’s claims of a tarnished reputation, infringed privacy, and lost dignity were validated by the court, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

No Love Lost: Loss of Consortium Dismissed

Lifestyle tabloid H-Metro reports that despite Jume’s initial demand for US$50,000 for the loss of consortium and conjugal rights, Justice Emilia Muchawa dismissed this claim.

The court delved into the complex dynamics of the relationship, uncovering that there was no love left between the estranged couple.

Adulterous Affairs Unveiled

The intricate details of the case revealed a web of relationships that shocked the courtroom.

Guvakumwe was found guilty of bigamy after marrying her neighbour, Elton Sanyamahwe, and even having a child with him while still legally married to Jume.

Astonishingly, Sanyamahwe was fully aware of Guvakumwe’s existing marriage but engaged in an adulterous relationship with her.

Unraveling the Drama

In a dramatic courtroom revelation, it was disclosed that Jume himself had a history of divorces and separations from up to three other women, painting him as a philandering figure. Justice Muchawa commented,

“Sanyamahwe was clearly dishonest with the court after denying fathering the child.”

The proceedings also brought forth accusations of drugging, rape claims, and allegations of marital dissatisfaction, painting a vivid picture of a tumultuous relationship.

US$10 000 Fine and Community Service

The verdict handed down by the High Court was severe, reflecting the gravity of the case. Guvakumwe was fined a staggering US$10,000 and further mandated to perform 105 hours of community service at Warren Park 1 Primary School.

This punishment serves as a stark reminder of the legal repercussions that accompany engaging in bigamy.

In the aftermath of this sensational trial, the community is left grappling with the fallout of a marriage that took an unexpected and scandalous turn.

The High Court’s ruling not only provides closure to the parties involved but also sets a precedent regarding the consequences of unconventional marital choices.
